The 8th edition FAQs are posted. I'm amused by the inconsistency of things... Slann can't go over 6 dice, Empire Staff of Sorcery turns the amplifier all the way to 7. High Elf ASF trumps the conflict with great weapons (how you feel about this is likely linked to how many swordmasters you own) while tons of other army book special rules are re-adopted into ___stalker rules or other special rules in the big book.

Anyway, take a look:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... 06&start=2

I'm sure the big book might reveal why they had some sudden reversals on rulings (last Dark Elf FAQ explicitly wrote off Lifetaker as shooting non-magic shots, now it shoots magic missiles) and I'm guessing all war machines are now Toughness 10... otherwise, changing the Steam Tank to T10 just seemed like a cheap trick to sell more stanks.

Well, it seems that the FAQs have really stirred things up. I am happy to see that a couple of the underdogs have lifted up their heads. I can see the So Cal Slaughter being very different this year...all new tactics and army builds. Get your GW products while they are hot...LOL

Where are there other good forums to follow the discussion on how the FAQ will affect things? I am not smart enough to figure things out for myself!

I'd suggest the warhammer forum. warhammer.org.uk

Im prety happy with high elves striking first with great weapons. Partially because I play them but partly because most of them are weak enough that even with the reroll halbadeers will still beat them point for point in combat...

The stank is just crazy and along with the new army system and warrior priests generating dispel dice will lead to some truly broken empire armies.

Mostly they are good with the dark elves being the best...
Ring of hotek changes to "any wizard attempting to cast a spell within 12 of the wearer must roll on the miscast table on the roll of any double."

So I can fire magic missiles from outside 12 at the guy with no ill effect now? Awesome!

8th Edition big rules book FAQ added to the end of the list:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... 06&start=2

Some interesting things that I was curious about are resolved 'fo sho':

* Characters in warmachines can't challenge (Anvil/Casket/Cauldron be warned).
* High Elves that transform into Dragons don't get ASF on their stomps (and breath fire at their regular I value - if that matters) and blessed Hydras don't have Killing Blow stomp/breathweapons.
* Multiple Wounds vs Warmachines are indeed quite fierce.
* You can repeatedly charge something and make it Flee! over and over again. Yikes.
* Magic Resistance is of no use vs. Miscast attacks.

One thing I wish they answered... if a BSB is on a monster or chariot (not a steed or monstrous cav since that's explicitly one model for ALL purposes) and it dies by breakage (via the (seemingly very stupid) Last Stand) - is the monster/chariot instantly killed to or does it have a chance to flee while the Hero throws his or her life away?

So this Stomp and SuperStomp, are they on ALL monsters, or only if the monster has the special rule in the book/errata? For example, I looked at the Skaven Errata, and saw that the Hellpit Abomination does not have a stomp rule associated with it. Seems a bit odd to me, esp. since the Great Eagle does.

Anything classified as Monsterous Infantry or Monsterous Cavalry automatically has the Stomp rule. Anything classified as a Monster automatically has the Thunderstomp rule. So:

Abomb: A monster, has Thunderstomp
Rhinox Riders (both types): Monsterous Cav, has Stomp
Doom Wheel: Special Unit, no stomp

And so on....
